RCMC FAQs
Welcome Raccoon Creek Men’s Club, new and returning members. We have tried to compile a list of frequent questions. Please take a few minutes to review and most of your questions will be answered.
Club Basics
Is the Club run by Raccoon Creek Golf Course?
- No, your club is run by the RCMC Board. This board consists of seven volunteer board members elected by the membership for three-year terms. The Board Officers are elected each year by the RCMC Board members. In addition to the Officers, there are Chairs to manage various activities of the club. These Chairs include Tournament, Rules, Handicap, Casual Play, and the various side Games that require routine management. The Chairs are usually board members but can be members who volunteer to help the club. The board works closely with the course to plan tournaments and set up casual play tee times.
Finances
How do I pay the club?
- Payments for Annual Dues and for Tournament Fees can be paid by Zelle to "Raccoon Creek Men's Club" using Email: racooncreektreasurer@gmail.com. This is the preferred payment method.
- Another option is to pay via Venmo to @RaccoonCreekMensClub.
- QR codes for our Zelle and Venmo can be found here
- Alternatively Payments can be made by check to Raccoon Creek Men’s Club. If paying tournament fees with check, it is recommended paying for multiple tournaments at a time, which will be continued on the Club books as credit until used. Any unused amounts will be refunded. Please make checks to "Raccoon Creek Men's Club" and send to:
- Brett Rodewald
- RCMC Treasurer
- 6809 Raspberry Run
- Littleton, CO 80125
- If a spouse’s or significant other’s Venmo or Zelle is used or otherwise has a name that does not readily identify you, please put your name in the note of the transaction.
Does the Club make a profit?
- The club is non-profit. All funds received go to cover the club’s expenses and returned to the members in the form of prizes, social events etc. The club does carry a reasonable balance forward from one year to the next.
What do my annual dues go to?
- Annual Dues goes to the following:
- Partially funds the tournament prize fund
- Partially funds the social fund (after round beers and/or buffet, etc.)
- Funds the hole in one pot.
- Funds the eagle pot.
- Funds Annual Meeting
- Funds the club’s expenses, such as door prizes, trophies, software, etc.
- Any additional items you signed up for, such as GHIN, Side Games, etc.
How much are tournament fees and what does that cover?
- Tournament fees are usually $35 per round (some tournaments are two rounds). This covers skins ($10), Closest to the Pin ($10), Prize Fund Contribution ($8), and after round beers and transaction fees ($7)
- Tournament fees may be more than $35 per round if there are additional costs such as an after-round buffet or special tournaments like the Member-Guest.
- Tournament fees must be paid before a player is moved off the tournament waitlist.
Do my tournament fees cover my green fees?
- No. You will usually pay your green fees to the course on the day of the tournament when we are using tee times.
- If the tournament is a shotgun start, the Club will collect green fees with tournament fees and pay the green fee on your behalf. This is because the course cannot manage 100 players checking in for a shotgun tournament in such a short amount of time.
I Won…How will I get paid?
- If you win or placed in your flight, you will be paid in Pro Shop Credit at Raccoon Creek Pro Shop. Usually around the middle of the week after a tournament this will be placed in your name on the Pro Shop books for use on merchandise. Merchandise includes items at the club house including clothes, gear, balls and clubs. You may also use it to order clubs from the pro shop.
- If you won skin money or Closest-to-the-Pin money, that will be paid out to via Zelle or Venmo This usually happens around the middle of the week after a tournament. If you do not use Zelle or Venmo this money will be kept in the Club books as credit in your name for use in future tournaments.
Tournament Play
What are the rules of Tournament Play?
- We follow USGA rules. This is competitive golf.
- Play the Ball Down (unless specifically noted differently in the pre-round message). This means no lifting, bumping etc., except under the USGA rules to identify your ball.
- Hole All Putts. There are no gimmies. Occasionally in team play, if you have blown up a hole, AND YOUR SCORE WILL NOT BE USED FOR THE TEAM, you may pick up and record a NET Triple Bogie. This will be noted in the pre-round message.
- We do have some local rules. Please familiarize yourself with the local rules on the Raccoon Creek Men’s Club Local Rules Page. These local rules cover penalty areas, drop zones, etc.
- Referenced in the local rules is USGA Local Rule E-5 for a lost ball.
How are tournaments scored?
- We use Golf Genius for official scoring of tournaments. One player in the group should keep score using the Golf Genius App on their phone. Another player in the group should keep an independent scorecard on a paper Raccoon Creek Score Card.
- Only Gross Scores should be recorded. Golf Genius will handle strokes and calculate Net score.
- The Golf Genius Score and Paper Score should be compared after the round and any differences reconciled and correct score put into Golf Genius. If you have difficulty changing the score needed in Golf Genius, please see a board member after the round for help. It is also recommended to compare the paper card with Golf Genius at the turn.
How can I find out more information about a tournament?
- Please look at the schedule tab on the portal, On this tab there is an "Expanded Schedule which will reflect anticipated flight order, 1st tee time, special rules, etc. This information is also often on the overall Schedule under the more information for each date.

When will tee sheets be sent out?
- Tee sheets are usually sent out by email on Thursday before a tournament. Please review the tee sheet. The tee sheet will have your tee time, playing group, and tee assignment. If you see an error with your tee assignment, especially if you are over 70 and want to move forward an assignment, please let the Tournament Chair know ASAP.
- Please note your flight so you know what Proxy you should put your name on if you get a Closest to the Pin. Sometimes a group will have a mix of flight players (i.e., two B Flight, and two C Flight).
- A text message will also be sent the evening before or the morning of a tournament. This message will give your tee time, playing group, tee, flight, and any special announcements or conditions for the tournament.

- A Flight plays predominantly from the Blue / Black Combo tees. To be eligible for Gross Club Champion, you must play the Black tees in the A Flight regardless of age.
Can I request an early/late tee time?
- We request that you limit any tee time requests to special occasions. Even in those cases, we will only move you early or late within your flight of players. Weather conditions can change throughout the day, and it is only fair that players in each flight play in similar conditions.
Can I request to play with certain players?
- Pairings are set to provide the greatest diversity within a flight. In other words, we try not to have the same people play together every tournament. Requests to play with specific people will typically not be granted except for the special “pick your partner” events.
Pace of Play
What is the Pace of Play Policy at Raccoon Creek?
- It is expected that each foursome plays immediately behind the group ahead of them. It is also expected that if/when a group falls out of position, they will do what is needed to get back into position behind the group ahead. Please see the Pace of Play Policy and Recommendations on Staying on Pace for help.
- Penalties for slow play will be enforced in accordance with the Pace of Play Policy.
Cancellation
What if I need to cancel a tournament I signed up for?
- Please let the Tournament Chair and Treasurer know as soon as possible. A no-show or late cancellation may result in requiring payment for green fees and no refund for tournament fees. Please see the No Show Policy Tab on the RCMC Policy Page
